METALLICA Announces Winners Of 'For Whom The Band Tolls!' Collegiate Edition Marching Band Competition

METALLICA crowns winners of its 'For Whom The Band Tolls!' collegiate marching band contest.

Metallica revealed the winners of the 'For Whom The Band Tolls!' marching band competition, which challenged collegiate bands to deliver creative performances of the band's music. Participating bands performed selections from Metallica's extensive catalog, including songs from classic albums such as 'Kill 'Em All,' 'Ride The Lightning,' and their latest release '72 Seasons.'

Entrants were provided with official sheet music to help craft their arrangements, and submissions were reviewed by professional judges before being narrowed down to five finalists. Fan voting was also part of the process, contributing to the selection of fan-favorite winners.

The University of South Carolina received the top honors in the 2025 edition of the contest. Winners across seven categories will collectively receive over $165,000 in prizes, including musical instruments and equipment funded with help from sponsors like Sweetwater and TAMA.

Adding to the incentive, the first-place Division 1 winner will have the unique opportunity to record a Metallica song along with the EA SPORTS College Football Theme Song, both destined for inclusion in the EA SPORTS College Football video game.

Metallica expressed gratitude to all participants and encouraged interest in the program, with additional details available at metallicamarchingband.com.
