GUNS N' ROSES' 'Sweet Child O' Mine' To Serve As Ending Theme Song For Latest 'Gundam' Series Film

Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine" will close the latest Gundam movie, "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery Of Nymph Circe."

Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed that "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses is featured as the ending song for the newest Gundam film titled "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery Of Nymph Circe." A promotional trailer including the song was set for release on February 2.

The song’s lyrics, reflecting themes of longing and emotional complexity, complement the storyline of the movie's main character, Hathaway, and his relationship with the enigmatic young woman, Gigi. This makes the song a meaningful conclusion to the film’s narrative.

The original "Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway" premiered in Japan in 2021 and was noted for its realistic battle scenes and psychological depth. The updated installment began screening in Japanese theaters on January 30, with plans for an international cinema launch to follow.

"Sweet Child O' Mine," originally released in 1987, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988 and remains one of Guns N' Roses' most iconic tracks. Its music video was the first from the 1980s to surpass a billion views on YouTube, highlighting its lasting popularity across generations.

Guns N’ Roses continues to be a significant force in rock music, with monumental album sales and recognition such as 2024’s Grammy Hall of Fame induction for their debut album "Appetite For Destruction." The band’s lineup includes Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, and other members, maintaining their influence in contemporary music culture.

The film is set in the Universal Century timeline, following Hathaway Noa leading a resistance group against governmental tyranny. The story explores themes of political rebellion and personal struggles set against the backdrop of a complex conflict involving various factions and characters.
