Ex-SKID ROW Singer ERIK GRÖNWALL To Release Solo LP This Year: 'I've Never Been Prouder Of An Album Than I Am Right Now'

Ex-SKID ROW singer Erik Grönwall to release a solo album this year and opens up about his health and band departure.

Erik Grönwall, who previously fronted SKID ROW, revealed in an interview that his new solo album will be released before the end of 2026. Collaborating with producer and former H.E.A.T. bandmate Jona Tee, Grönwall described this upcoming album as his most heartfelt work, emphasizing his creative control and exploration of his musical identity outside of bands.

Grönwall discussed his experience joining SKID ROW shortly after battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, explaining that timing his return to music was challenging but ultimately aligned with his health priorities. Despite enjoying his time with the band, he chose to leave due to the rigorous touring schedule conflicting with his ongoing medical care and recovery needs.

The singer expressed respect and appreciation for the members of SKID ROW, highlighting the democratic nature of their collaboration and the mutual value they brought to each other’s careers. His decision to step away from the band was framed as necessary for his well-being, despite it being a difficult career choice.

Grönwall also paid tribute to SKID ROW’s original singer Sebastian Bach, recognizing his influential vocal performances and the honor he felt performing the band’s classic songs. Last year, Grönwall reiterated that health came first in his decision to leave and reflected fondly on his experience with the group.

Following his departure, Grönwall has focused on creating new music, including his upcoming solo album, and actively engaging with fans on platforms like YouTube. His journey underscores a balance between artistic passion and personal health considerations in the demanding music industry.
