Internal Strife and Hurricane Gustav Loom Over the Republican National Convention
We are only days past the equally tumultuous DNC, where Hillary Clinton voiced a vague insult at Obama; a hidden message for her supporters to stay home in declaring, "No McCain."(The anti-endorsement of your opposition party candidate is no endorsement of your own party candidate.) The same convention where protestors met tear-gas, black-armored jack-boot thugs, and Karl Rove styled "Freedom Cages." Obama broke above the chaos with one of the most polished, Imperial speeches of recent political history; his hollow words rang with a confidence and eloquence unseen since the meteoric rise of the charming Ronald Reagan.
