Philip Shouse, known for his work as the guitarist of the heavy metal band ACCEPT, has unveiled his first solo EP titled 'Side 1', which will be released on February 27 through Wild Kingdom/Sound Pollution. To mark the announcement, he premiered the initial single 'Run Away From You' along with a music video co-created with Emil Klinta.
The single showcases a classic rock vibe reminiscent of The Rolling Stones, featuring a catchy riff and memorable chorus. Shouse expressed excitement about delivering his debut solo track and encouraged listeners to enjoy it at full volume. The accompanying video complements the energetic vibe of the song.
The five-track EP highlights Shouse stepping into the spotlight as a lead vocalist and instrumentalist, handling vocals, guitars, and bass across the record. The songs blend elements of rock, power-pop, country-rock, and acoustic-electric dynamics, drawing inspiration from bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Heart without directly copying their sound.
Shouse has been part of ACCEPT since 2019, contributing to four albums and extensive touring. Beyond metal, his career includes collaborations with renowned artists such as Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Rodney Atkins, and John Corabi. He has played in both Simmons’s and Frehley’s solo bands and appeared on Frehley’s 2020 album 'Origins, Vol. 2'.
Based in Nashville for over two decades, Shouse also cohosted Thee Rock N Roll Residency, a jam session series attracting prominent rock musicians. In addition to his music career, he co-founded a Swedish non-alcoholic beer company called Rock N Röll. 'Side 1' represents a new personal creative chapter for Shouse as he moves beyond his established reputation as a sideman.
