DIR EN GREY FOLLOW SUCCESSFUL INWARD SCREAM TOUR WITH SUMMER NORTH AMERICAN TOUR SUPPORTING DEFTONES
DIR EN GREY continues to gain momentum in 2007. Their second U.S. full length album THE MARROW OF A BONE was released earlier this year to critical acclaim and the band has announced plans to tour with Deftones this summer, after a successful North American headlining tour earlier this year. DIR EN GREY's unforgettable live show has won them numerous U.S. fans starting with their SXSW appearance in 2006 and continuing as one of the main stage acts on last year's Family Values Tour.
The band launched their month-long North American leg of their "INWARD SCREAM" tour in February and sold out a number of venues in major cities including New York (Nokia Times Square Theatre), Los Angeles (The Wiltern LG), Chicago (House of Blues), San Francisco (The Fillmore), Minneapolis (Fine Line Music Club), Atlanta (Roxy Theatre) and Toronto (House of Blues). In a 2/21/07 advance feature, the Los Angeles Times wrote that "Dir En Grey, with its unusual rhythmic interplay and ability to catapult a listener between the worlds of Alice Cooper and Charles Aznavour, resonates in memory like a living mystery. Call it depth." Elsewhere, the Dallas Morning News stated that DIR EN GREY "threatens to invade metal's American sanctum as no other heavy Japanese act has as it's become a truly original live act." (2/21/07)
The buzz in America for DIR EN GREY--KYO (voice), KAORU (guitar), DIE (guitar), TOSHIYA (bass) and SHINYA (drums)--started with the release of 2006's Withering to death., which was named one of the Top 10 Hard Rock & Metal albums of 2006 by Amazon.com. The video for album track "Saku" was also named #1 video of 2006 by Revolver, in conjunction with MTV2's Headbanger's Ball.
