LORDI ANNOUNCE FIRST NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF "THE AROCKALYPSE"

By jason

LORDI, Finland's monster rock 'n' roll extravaganza and winners of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, has announced its first ever North American tour dates in support of the band's critically acclaimed album, THE AROCKALYPSE. THE AROCKALYPSE will see a March 20, 2007 release date via The End Records.

LORDI's 'monster invasion' will launch on April 20th, 2007 in Anaheim, California at House of Blues and wrap with a two-night stint at the Bamboozle music festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey on May 5 and 6. A full listing of confirmed LORDI live performances follows this message, with additional dates expected to be announced soon.

On the topic of touring North America for the first time, frontman Mr. Lordi says, "I'm really anxious to see how the audiences are gonna react to us. From our point of view touring the States is like 'coming home.' I know it sounds weird for a Finnish band to say that but we are often described as the 'most American band' in Finland. You see all of our influences -- mostly musically and visually, come from the States, so we're keeping our fingers crossed."

Since winning Eurovision (the song contest that previously was a springboard for mainstream artists such as ABBA and Celine Dion, www.eurovision.tv) by its highest score ever, LORDI's popularity has grown to gargantuan heights, with the band conquering numerous European charts and a six-week sold out tour of Europe. The band's latest album, THE AROCKALYPSE has been certified triple platinum in Finland and is now also among the Top 60 best-selling Finnish albums ever. In addition to gracing the cover of dozens of Finnish publications, news features on LORDI's groundbreaking Eurovision win appeared outside of Finland in media outlets such as The New York Times, The Guardian (UK) and SPIN.

"Not since the days of 'Kiss Meets the Phantom' has heavy metal anthems and theatrics gone hand in hand so splendidly." – BILLBOARD

"They have eight-foot retractable latex Satan wings, sing hits like "Chainsaw Buffet" and blow up slabs of smoking meat on stage. So members of the band LORDI expected a reaction when they beat a crooner of love ballads to represent Finland at the Eurovision song contest in Athens...the heavy-metal monster band did not expect a national identity crisis." - THE NEW YORK TIMES ("Finland Squirms as Its Latest Export Steps Into Spotlight" - April, 24, 2006 / http://www.nytimes.com/iht/2006/04/24/world/24finn.html)

"Monsters of Rock. After romping home with 292 points, the highest score in Eurovision history, LORDI celebrated with 80,000 people in front of Helsinki's Presidential Palace, where Tarja Halonen, the nation's president, joined the band onstage." - SPIN
