SNOT Reawakens: New Album on the Horizon with Fresh Blood
In a recent gut-punch of an interview on the We Were Loud Once podcast, SNOT's legendary guitarist Mikey Doling opened up about the band's long-awaited new studio album, a record that promises to breathe fire into the metal scene once more. Teaming up with producer Chris Collier, SNOT is set to unleash their first album featuring the bold new voice of Andy Knapp, who stepped into the spotlight with the band back in January 2025 during a live performance in Anaheim, California.
"For Andy to jump into SNOT, he really had to be brave," Doling revealed, shedding light on the immense pressure Knapp faced in taking on this monumental task. "Sure, he can tour and belt out classics from 'Get Some'—and trust me, he slays it—but recording a whole new album? That’s a beast of a different color. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for him, but he dove in headfirst. He's now super confident and absolutely stoked because he crushed it. I’m telling you, it’s going to be amazing."
As the band inches closer to completion, Doling expressed that the new SNOT album is nearly finished but hinted at the weight of expectations resting on Knapp's shoulders. "We drove to Las Vegas for studio sessions, and those long drives sparked deep conversations about the music, the lyrics, and the legacy of what we’re creating. We even joked about calling the album 'Long Drive' because of those journeys, but we settled on something else. Regardless, every trip solidified our bond and vision, and there was a moment where Andy looked at me and said, ‘Dude, this is good.’ And I was like, ‘Hell yeah, it fucking rocks! We did it!’"
Doling’s reflections also emphasize the poignant connection between Knapp and the late SNOT frontman, Lynn Strait. "Lynn was Andy’s hero. He grew up idolizing him and wanted to be just like him. It’s wild; Andy's ten years younger than us, and when we released 'Get Some', he was just a kid, but that record lit a fire in him. He sounds so much like Lynn because he emulated him for years. We had been searching for the right fit for 15 years, and when we found Andy, it just clicked. It felt like fate, and he was right there in Ventura all along, just waiting for his chance to join us."
With SNOT's forthcoming LP, set to drop in the summer of 2027 via BLKIIBLK, the heavy metal imprint of Frontiers Label Group, the album marks a thrilling return after nearly three decades of silence. As one of the most influential cult bands to rise from the late '90s heavy music explosion, their new material promises to break boundaries while honoring the legacy of their iconic past.
