SOLITUDE AETURNUS Welcomes James-Paul Luna: A New Era in Doom Begins

The Texas doom legends make waves as new vocalist James-Paul Luna takes the stage for the first time.

The air was thick with anticipation as SOLITUDE AETURNUS unleashed a new chapter at the Candelabrum Metal Fest in León, Mexico, on September 12, marking the live debut of their new frontman, James-Paul Luna. Known for his dynamic presence in HOLY GRAIL and INTRANCED, Luna stepped into the spotlight, taking over from Robert Lowe, whose departure left a significant void in the band’s lineup.

After months of speculation and a heartfelt announcement on August 1, SOLITUDE AETURNUS declared Luna's arrival as a pivotal moment for the band. "With a commanding stage presence and years of experience, he will bring power and intensity to our live performances," the band stated, hinting at the seismic shift in their sound. Luna's powerful yet melodic voice resonated through the venue, promising a fresh surge of energy that the doom metal scene has been hungry for.

Prior to this monumental performance, the band collaborated with guest vocalist Jason McMaster at the Maryland Deathfest in May, a brief yet potent glimpse into the future of SOLITUDE AETURNUS. The current lineup, now featuring Luna, includes stalwarts John Perez (guitar), Edgar Rivera (guitar), Lyle Steadham (bass), and Logan Cade (drums), all ready to forge ahead into uncharted territory.

The decision to part ways with Lowe back in April was no easy task for the band, as they acknowledged the necessity for change to remain active in the metal landscape. "This was not an easy decision, of course, but we feel positive about it as we move forward with more shows and other plans," they expressed. With Luna at the helm, the band seems poised to reclaim their throne in the doom metal hierarchy.

SOLITUDE AETURNUS, formed in the spring of 1987, has a rich history intertwined with the evolution of doom metal itself. From their early demo days to the cult classic albums that followed, including the seminal "Into The Depths Of Sorrow" and the critically acclaimed "Through The Darkest Hour," they have carved a niche that resonates with fans worldwide. With the release of their last full-length album, "Alone," in 2006, the anticipation for new material is palpable. Now, with Luna's addition, the band is set to embark on a new journey, invigorated and ready to unleash their next offering upon the world.
