Nicotine Dolls Ignite the Scene with Self-Titled Sophomore Album

Brace yourselves, metalheads: Nicotine Dolls are back and ready to set the world ablaze with their self-titled sophomore album, dropping October 23 via BMG. This time, frontman Sam Cieri joins forces with hitmaker Marti Frederiksen, known for crafting anthems for legends like Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne. The result? A ferocious cocktail of raw guitars, crushing rhythms, and electrifying vocals that capture the explosive chemistry between Cieri, guitarist John Newsome, and drummer Abel Tabares.

Unleashing chaos upon the airwaves, the band’s lead single, “Enemy,” is a furious declaration of independence, a cathartic anthem rejecting the burden of another's self-destruction. “‘Enemy’ came from being blamed by one of my best friends for choices he made that blew up his own life,” Cieri reveals. “I’d never written a f*ck-you song before, but that’s exactly what it is.” This track lays bare the emotional turmoil that fuels the album's relentless energy.

Before crafting the explosive sound of Nicotine Dolls, Cieri hustled in the NYC subway for nearly three years, performing for spare change while dreaming big. After hitting the theatrical heights in the Tony Award-winning musical Once, he channeled that determination into building a band from the ground up. With a series of grueling jobs to fund their endeavors, Cieri and his crew ultimately decided to wipe the slate clean and redefine their sound.

“We were having so much fun playing with John, and it reminded me of the way rock & roll made me feel as a teenager,” Cieri reminisces. This rekindled passion led them to scrap a previous album and dive headfirst into a new sonic direction. The self-titled album is a testament to their evolution, an embodiment of the magic that finally materialized when everything fell into place.

With 12 tracks that traverse the moody landscapes of desire, regret, and survival, Nicotine Dolls delivers an unfiltered exploration of human emotion. The album is a rollercoaster ride from the fuzzed-out swagger of “Gimme Sympathy” to the simmering defiance of “To the Wolves.” Each song resonates with raw energy and emotional weight, culminating in a gut-wrenching moment where Cieri shed tears upon completing the record. “I believe in our band, and this is the closest I’ve ever come to making the record I always knew we could make,” he confesses.
