MASTODON Unleashes 'Marrow Deep' with a Vengeance and New Single Featuring Josh Homme
Atlanta's progressive metal titans MASTODON are ready to unleash their long-anticipated new album, "Marrow Deep", on August 28 via Loma Vista Recordings. The announcement is accompanied by the blistering new single, "Snakes For Dinner", featuring the unmistakable vocals of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE’s Josh Homme, who also graces the accompanying music video. This powerhouse collaboration is just a taste of what’s to come!
Five years after their sprawling opus, "Hushed And Grim", the band’s latest effort documents the journey of founding members Brann Dailor, Troy Sanders, and Bill Kelliher as they rise from personal turmoil with a renewed vigor. Inspired by the Greek myth of the Three Fates, "Marrow Deep" captures the essence of life, loss, and fate, weaving the band’s profound personal experiences into the most expansive and emotionally charged tracks of their illustrious career. This marks the first full-length album to feature guitarist Nick Johnston, alongside significant contributions from keyboardist João Nogueira.
Co-produced at the band’s own West End Sound studio in Atlanta, with the help of Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou, "Marrow Deep" promises a sonic onslaught mixed by the legendary Andrew Scheps. Fans can expect an array of guest appearances that will be revealed in due course, adding to the anticipation surrounding this monumental release.
New single "Snakes For Dinner" follows last month’s immediate fan favorite, "Your Ghost Again", which claimed the No. 2 spot in a Revolver reader's poll of 2026's best songs thus far. This emotionally charged epic marks Josh Homme's first MASTODON appearance since 2006's "Blood Mountain". As if that wasn’t enough, the announcement follows the recent release of the band’s intimate short film, "The Mastodon In The Room", which grapples with the unresolved grief surrounding the loss of founding guitarist Brent Hinds. This poignant piece pays tribute to their remarkable 25-year journey while addressing the complexities of their dynamic as they move forward.
