BATTLE BEAST Embarks on a New Era with Marina La Torraca: A Raw and Unfiltered Journey Begins
In a thunderous display of resilience and evolution, Finnish power metal stalwarts BATTLE BEAST have officially kicked off a new chapter with their formidable new frontwoman, Marina La Torraca. The band delivered an electrifying performance at the Metalfest Open Air 2026 festival in Pilsen, Czech Republic, marking their first festival appearance since the seismic shift in their lineup.
After the sudden departure of long-time vocalist Noora Louhimo, who exited to pursue her own musical ambitions, BATTLE BEAST wasted no time in finding a new voice to lead them into battle. Marina, known for her spellbinding prowess in PHANTOM ELITE and EXIT EDEN, stepped into the spotlight for her debut performance on March 6 at WWWX in Tokyo, Japan. Speaking to Australia's Metal Mal, bassist Eero Sipilä shared the whirlwind of emotions that accompanied Louhimo's exit, admitting that the news hit him like a freight train. “Absolute shock” was his initial response, but the band’s resolve to forge ahead was quickly solidified.
Eero recounted the frantic search for a new singer, stating, “We just started actively searching for new singers. Marina's name came on top of our list. We called her, and she was interested.” With little time for rehearsal, the band dove headfirst into a trial by fire, fully committed to making this transition seamless. The energy is palpable, and Eero assures fans that while it may not be a stadium-class performance like METALLICA, it will be raw, exhilarating, and nothing short of a fresh sonic experience.
Marina La Torraca is no stranger to the spotlight. With a background in musical theatre and a vocal range that can shift from melodic beauty to fierce growls in an instant, she brings a new vigor to BATTLE BEAST. Her excitement is infectious, as she enthusiastically embraces her role while acknowledging the weight of stepping into Louhimo's shoes. “Is it a little terrifying? You bet! Is it also very exciting? Absolutely,” she stated, ready to lead the charge into this new era.
Meanwhile, Noora Louhimo, who had been a vital force in shaping the band's identity since her debut in 2012, expressed her gratitude and emotions as she embarks on her own journey. “Life is full of different eras, and now it is time for a new one,” she proclaimed, leaving behind a legacy while encouraging her former bandmates to soar. As BATTLE BEAST gears up for a series of shows, fans can expect an exhilarating blend of familiar anthems and fresh energy, as the band continues to push the boundaries of their sound.
