A PERFECT CIRCLE Teases New Album While on Tour

By Jason
Billy Howerdel hints at more music to come as the band navigates the chaos of touring.

In a gritty exchange with Kevin Kellam from Minneapolis's 93Xradio, A PERFECT CIRCLE's own string-shredder, Billy Howerdel, has dropped tantalizing hints about new material following the release of their latest single, "Starless." While he remains tight-lipped on a release date, he conveyed a sense of urgency and excitement, stating, "There's more [music] underway. And in the spirit of soft deadlines, I'm not gonna give you the date, but we're working toward something." The wheels are turning, and the metal gods may be smiling down upon us.

With A PERFECT CIRCLE currently tearing through Europe on a tour that kicked off in London, Howerdel admits that the grind of touring complicates the creative process. "I sometimes optimistically think that’s gonna happen, and, like today, we’re six shows in... and this is the first day I really slept," he confessed. The struggle is real, folks. When you're living out of a suitcase, hitting the gym, and trying to find a moment to breathe, the aspiration to produce a full-length album feels like a Herculean task.

But it's not all chaos; there’s a method to the madness. Howerdel spoke about his songwriting synergy with the enigmatic Maynard James Keenan, the powerhouse vocalist behind not just A PERFECT CIRCLE but also the legendary TOOL and the creative juggernaut PUSCIFER. "I feel more creative with him [than I do with other musicians]," he said, emphasizing the focused and intense vibe that drives their collaborative efforts. The passion is palpable, and when these two forces align in the studio, you can bet the results will be nothing short of explosive. "Once the train starts rolling, it’s rolling," he remarked, highlighting the unstoppable nature of their creative energy.

"Starless," recorded at Howerdel's Lankershim Ranch Studio in Studio City, California, showcases the band’s commitment to quality and artistry. Produced by Howerdel and mixed by the talented Matty Green, the track features drumming from longtime collaborator Josh Freese. For the collectors out there, a limited-edition seven-inch single of "Starless" has been unleashed, complete with a custom etching of the band’s iconic crescent logo. This vinyl gem comes in two stunning variants: silver/black and white with sea blue and black splatter, proving that A PERFECT CIRCLE knows how to capture both sound and style.

Since their inception in 1999, A PERFECT CIRCLE has carved out a legacy in the alternative rock landscape, with their debut album "Mer De Noms" hitting the top of the charts and resonating with fans worldwide. Their catalog, which includes timeless tracks such as “Judith” and “3 Libras,” continues to thrive, with their most recent effort, "Eat The Elephant," debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. As they continue to headline festivals and sell out iconic venues, the anticipation for their next chapter only grows. Stay tuned, metalheads – the story of A PERFECT CIRCLE is far from over.
