Anthrax Reigns Supreme at Saint Vitus Bar's Grand Re-Opening
The legendary Anthrax will tear the roof off Saint Vitus Bar on September 4, as the venue celebrates its triumphant re-opening at its new digs on 428 Troutman Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This isn't just another show; it's a monumental event in the annals of New York's thrash metal history.
With a fierce proclamation, Anthrax declares, “NEW YORK CITY. We’re honored to be performing at the grand re-opening of the legendary Saint Vitus Bar on September 4th.” The band isn’t just reminiscing about the past; they’re capturing every electrifying moment on film, inviting fans to bring their best mosh moves as they etch this night into the chronicles of metal lore. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, August 28, so gear up and secure your spot to witness history.
In the lead-up to this epic night, Anthrax has unleashed a new single and video, “Everybody’s Got A Plan,” from their highly anticipated 12th studio album, Cursum Perficio, set for release on September 18 via Megaforce Records. This track, a sonic juggernaut, was captured live on July 7 in Lisbon while the band shared the stage with Iron Maiden, blending live ferocity with behind-the-scenes chaos, all underpinned by a classic boxing motif that echoes the song’s fierce lyrics.
Drummer Charlie Benante reflects on the single, stating, “The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song.” The line “Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face” resonates deeply, encapsulating the gritty reality of life on the road. This is Anthrax’s world, where every gig is a battleground and every riff is a declaration.
As if the re-opening and new music weren't enough, the thrash titans are also rolling out visually stunning animated shorts based on the album cover, created in collaboration with artist Mark Stritzel. Each week, fans can dive deeper into the characters that populate this striking artwork, leading up to the album release. And in true Anthrax fashion, they’ll kick off the celebrations with an exclusive late-night signing in Louisville, KY, right after their performance at the Louder Than Life festival.
Cursum Perficio marks a ten-year wait since their last album, and it promises to be a masterclass in heavy metal artistry. Recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606, this album is a culmination of craftsmanship, rage, and a relentless pursuit of perfection. Fans can expect everything from standard CDs to exclusive vinyl editions that showcase the band’s dedication to their craft. Pre-orders are live, and the anticipation is palpable as Anthrax prepares to unleash this long-awaited magnum opus upon the world.
