SACRED REICH Dives Deep Into the Abyss with New Album

Arizona's thrash titans gear up for their first LP in four years, promising darkness and raw energy.

In a recent chat with Metal & Rock Zone, SACRED REICH’s own Phil Rind opened the floodgates on the band’s forthcoming album, aptly titled Into The Abyss, set to unleash its fury via Metal Blade Records. This marks their first full-length since 2019’s Awakening, and it was all crafted in the heart of Mesa, Arizona, at The Focusrite Room under the keen eyes of producer John Aquilino and the sonic wizardry of Bill Metoyer. With the addition of new drummer Eduardo Baldo, who stepped in after the legendary Dave McClain’s departure, the band is ready to redefine their sound.

When pressed about the release date, Rind confirmed the album is slated for sometime next year, though he lamented, “We were hoping it would be August, September. That didn’t work out.” The anticipation is palpable, as fans await the resurrection of SACRED REICH’s lyrical and musical intensity.

On the songwriting front, Rind revealed that guitarist Joey Radziwill, a relative newcomer since 2019, penned a staggering ten out of the eleven tracks on Into The Abyss. “You can’t go back to how it was,” Rind stated, acknowledging the evolution of the band. “But Joey’s still in his 20s, and he fucking crushed it. I think fans are gonna be, like, ‘What?’ It’s fast, heavy... I was blown away.”

Delving into the album’s themes, Rind candidly shared, “A lot has happened since Awakening. We all went through some dark times. The title reflects that — going into the unknown.” The new material promises a darker edge, with a few glimmers of hope scattered throughout the chaos, reinforcing the notion that even in despair, there’s light to be found.

As for McClain’s exit, Rind reflected that it was time for a change, welcoming Baldo, who previously made waves with RED DEVIL VORTEX, into the fold. “He’s a beast! Can’t wait for you to see him,” Rind declared, signaling a thrilling new chapter for SACRED REICH.

With the band’s trajectory shifting and the sound evolving, one thing remains certain: SACRED REICH is barreling into the abyss, ready to unleash their unrelenting metal assault on a world that desperately needs it.
