Darkest Hour Added To New England Metal And Hardcore Fest

Darkest Hour (2009) Beyond the incredibly diverse roster of bands already confirmed to play the sixteenth edition of the NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL in just four weeks, the promoters of the event are proud to announce the addition of longtime US metalcore dynamos, Darkest Hour to the lineup for this year's festivities.

DARKEST HOUR formed in Washington DC in 1995, amidst the sweltering metalcore explosion of the mid-90s. Boasting a tight, slamming American version of what Swedish melodic death metal masters At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and the like were already doing, yet within a much more volatile stateside hardcore element. After a pair of records on Art Monk and several split and independent releases, the band signed with Victory Records at the Y2K millennium change, after which they exploded onto the scene and over the next decade nine years released five LPs through Victory, each one talking more sales charts and bringing more new fans into the continually-shifting metalcore genre, and taking the band to new corners of the world on tour.

The most current DARKEST HOUR album -- The Human Resource, released via eOne Records in 2011 -- showcased a new dynamic direction for the outfit and after recently signing a deal with Sumerian Records, the band is working on a new album to be released this Summer. NEMHF will be one of the few shows they'll be playing this Spring and where they will be adding a song or two from the upcoming release. The promoters of the fest are proud to have them take part in this year's gala, as the band will take the stage on Thursday, April 17th.

This Saturday, March 22nd will also mark the finals for this year's ongoing Break Thru Music Presents: Battle for Metal Fest competition, the action going down at two locations simultaneously. At the Webster Theater in Hartford, Connecticut at 6pm, sets from finalists Physics of Demise, Vengeful Wake, Hollow, To Die a Legend and Dream of Scipio, We Are Nothing, Lightsbane, Rise And Resist, Imperium Mortis, Acius, Behold The Beginning and Victim Of Innocence. Back at the Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts where the fest takes place, the battle will include performances from Chaos Machine, Hitlist, Onward, Begat The Nephilim, Rumors of Betrayal, Seeds Of Negligence, Along Came the Flood, Assault On The Living, Carnivora, Written In Stone, Death Rattle. The winners will of course take part in the assault on the Palladium at this year's event.

From Thursday, April 17th through Saturday the 19th over 75 bands will once again infiltrate Worcester's iconic Palladium Theatre for the annual NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL, coalescing multiple cross-country tours, exclusive appearances and more among the massive and ever-building lineup for this year's festivities.
