'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott Honored At Download Festival

By World Entertainment News Network

Late rocker 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott is to be honored at Britain's Download festival in June - a stage will be named after him. Organizers of the Donington Park three-day event have opted to name their second stage after the former Pantera guitarist, who was shot and killed during a show in Columbus, Ohio in December 2004.

A spokesman for the festival says, "We are proud to announce the second stage at this year's festival will be called The Dimebag Darrell Stage. Festival organizers felt that this was a fitting tribute to a legendary man that has influenced and inspired many great bands."

Abbott's brother and former Pantera and Damageplan band mate Vinnie Paul adds, "I am proud to announce we have the privilege of honoring my brother by naming the second stage after him... This is a huge honor."
