Despised Icon Kick Off Euro Tour, Announce New Guitarist
The Montreal-based deathcore six-piece Despised Icon head overseas today for their first European tour with Unearth, Job For A Cowboy and Daath. The group have just wrapped up a sold-out Canadian/U.S. run with Job For A Cowboy, which also marked the first appearance of their new guitarist Al Glassman (Goratory, ex-Burn In Silence).
Alex Erian (vocals) checks in with the following report: "We just got home from our Canadian/U.S. Job For A Cowboy tour. Almost every single show was sold out! We haven't toured our home country in while and we'd like to thank everyone that showed up for making this a memorable experience. Our plane for Europe leaves today and it will be our first time touring overseas. We can't wait to see what it's like.
"After going though tons of audition videos, we'd like to introduce our new guitarist Al Glassman. He learned and played the songs perfectly, but most of all he's an awesome dude. We're glad to have him as a guitarist and as a friend. He joined us on this past run and proved to us and to the rest of the crowd that he's the perfect guy for the band. Thumbs up!"
Despised Icon's undying work ethic throughout 2006 earned them a rabid and loyal underground following through high-profile tours alongside such esteemed acts as Hatebreed, Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder, Napalm Death, Exodus, Morbid Angel, Through The Eyes of The Dead and Krisiun. The group's unrelenting stage presence was unmatched as their latest album, 'The Healing Process', was hailed as a stunning slab of sheer aggression backed with impeccable time changes that quickly raised the bar for their peers.
As previously reported, a new track, "In The Arms of Perdition," was recently posted on the band's MySpace page, and a new video for the track was shot by Jean-Philippe Bernier. This clip is a stunning performance based offering that puts emphasis on the band's frantic live intensity. Look for it to make its debut online next month.
Despised Icon's stunning new album, 'The Ills of Modern Man', is set for a May 22nd release. The disc was recorded with acclaimed producer/former guitarist Yannick St-Amand (Beneath The Massacre, Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis) and mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Megadeth).
