Hansi Kürsch provides an update on the band's ambitious plans following 'The God Machine'.

In a recent video update, Blind Guardian's frontman Hansi Kürsch has revealed that the legendary power metal band is gearing up for an exciting new chapter. The follow-up to their 2022 album, 'The God Machine', is already in the works, with plans to complete pre-production by the end of 2026 and enter the studio for recording in early 2027.

Kürsch candidly addressed fans, stating, "Hello, everybody. This is a short message from Blind Guardian. We just wanna give you a heads up where we are at and what we are thinking about at the moment." Despite the band taking a brief hiatus, Kürsch reassured fans that they are slowly but surely diving back into the songwriting process: "We are not too far yet. Allow us another, let's say, four or five months before I can be more precise in terms of the songwriting and into which direction it goes."

While the band did manage to work on some material during their extensive touring, Kürsch emphasized that fresh ideas are now flowing as they approach the new album with renewed energy. He confidently stated, "The aim is to have a pre-production ready to go at the end of 2026. I'm pretty sure we can keep that, and then there should be a full production in the beginning of 2027."

In previous interviews, Kürsch has hinted at the band's plans for 2026, mentioning potential projects that include acoustic albums and a deeper dive into their creative well. "We have neglected a few things, which we have to come up with," he said, reflecting on the challenges of balancing touring with new music creation. The band is also working on an acoustic rendition of their 1998 classic 'Nightfall In Middle-Earth'.

Despite the lengthy touring cycle that has seen them celebrate the 30th anniversary of 'Somewhere Far Beyond', the band remains committed to their craft. "There is always interaction between the members, and we come up with concepts and ideas for how things could go on," Kürsch explained. The band's recent fall 2025 North American tour was a testament to their enduring legacy, featuring special guests Ensiferum and Seven Kingdoms.

Looking ahead, Kürsch shared his thoughts on the musical direction for the upcoming album, hinting at a balance between orchestral elements and more straightforward metal. He remarked, "We shouldn't go further down the road when it comes to orchestration... it is time for the let-your-hair-down stuff." As the band embarks on this next musical journey, fans can expect a bold new sound that honors their storied past while forging ahead into uncharted territory.
