HEAVY GLOW: Share Catalog

By Sevine E. Levine
Now calling Austin their home, the band has just completed a number of regional shows as they ready their chops for another interesting and active year.

It’s been an interesting road for Cleveland native Jared Mullins. The multi-instrumental, singer/songwriter has been the driving force behind Heavy Glow since forming via a Craigslist posting circa 2008. Recruiting bassist Joe Brooks, the duo have recorded and released a pair of albums, two eps, and a single – all available to a limited number of curious rock listeners. That is until now. Via cooperation with Restricted Release, Heavy Glow’s The Filth & The Fury and Pearls & Swine And Everything Fine will see official North American release on August 12.

The Filth & The Fury was recorded in one, six-hour live studio session in 2010. Classic Rock Magazine included the song “Hot Mess” on its July 2010 sampler cd. Ripple Effect said the song featured “a riff that descends directly from Hendrix’s Manic Depression.” The five-song ep was was later nominated for 2010 Best Rock Album, San Diego’s Music Awards.

Pearls & Swine And Everything Fine was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Michael Patterson (Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and features cover artwork by Darren Grealish (Queens of the Stone Age, Melvins). Again completely funded by the band, Heavy Glow produced a video for the song “Look What Your Doing To Me” featuring Machete actress Mayra Leal. Cincinnati City Beat said,” “on a foundation of fuzz-fueled hard rock, Pearls & Swine And Everything Fine is potent proof of Heavy Glow’s deep influences.”

Heavy Glow songs have been featured on Fox TV’s The Good Guys and CBS’s Under The Dome.
