Saw II soundtrack release date
"America's Horror Magazine" Fangoria reports the Lions Gate film, SAW II soundtrack will be released on October 25th through Treadstone Records.
The soundtrack is led by MUDVAYNE's track "Forget to Remember, which will also be the first single on the album, and be released as a video directed by SAW II Director Darren Lynn Bousman.
Other artists on the compilation include The Used, Papa Roach, Skinny Puppy, Seven Dust, Opiate for the Masses, The Legion of Doom, Blood Simple, BucketHead and friends, and Revolting Cocks--who demanded their track be the #13 spot. Also, remixes comprise a portion of the album with UNKLE recreating a Queens of the Stone Age song, and members of Nine Inch Nails and Limp Bizkit reconstructing a Marilyn Manson song.
Jonathan Scott Miller of Treadstone Records commented on the soundtrack, "We wanted the [songs] to blend seamlessly with Charlie Clouser's score. So we chose music with elements of both organic hard rock and electronic industrial, which creates an atmoshere you can really feel. These songs get under your skin."
SAW II hits theaters on October 28.
The sounds of sawing will roar from your CD player when Treadstone Records releases the soundtrack to SAW II on October 25, three days before the sequel opens nationwide from Lions Gate. "We were looking for tracks with an edge-of-your-seat intensity to reflect the mood of the film," says Treadstone president Jonathan Platt. "But we didn't want to rely on aggressive vocals and volume. We didn't want to make a heavy metal record, which would have been the obvious choice."
The company's Jonathan Scott Miller adds, "We wanted the [songs] to blend seamlessly with Charlie Clouser's score. So we chose music with elements of both organic hard rock and electronic industrial, which creates an atmoshere you can really feel. These songs get under your skin."
The soundtrack boasts such hard rock and metal acts as The Used, Papa Roach, Skinny Puppy, Sevendust, Opiate for the Masses and up-and-comers A Band Called Pain. Some of the highlights are new music by The Legion of Doom, Bloodsimple, Buckethead and Friends featuring renowned poet/spoken-word artist Saul Willians and Revolting Cocks featuring Gibby (Butthole Surfers) Haynes and Al (Ministry) Jourgensen, who insisted their song occupy the #13 spot on the CD. Clouser, the Nine Inch Nails veteran who composed the music for both SAWs, supplies a tune as well. In the remix department, Queens of the Stone Age have a song reworked by UNKLE and Marilyn Manson has one adapted by Danny (Nine Inch Nails) Lohner, Wes (Limp Bizkit) Borland and Clouser.
Headlining the collection is Mudvayne, whose "Forget to Remember" will be the first single released, accompanied by a music video from SAW II director Darren Lynn Bousman. "We worked closely with the film's producers on putting the soundtrack together," Platt says, "and then we collaborated with them on the video. The guys in Mudvayne are fans of the first SAW, and they were very enthusiastic about tying ‘Forget to Remember' in with SAW II."
