Heads roll at Sanctuary Records

World's largest independent record label makes deep staffing cuts...

With major metal acts such as Ministry, Corrosion Of Conformity, Anthrax and A Dozen Furies amongst the many talented groups on their roster, Sanctuary Records is not only the world's largest independent record label, but a major force in the world of heavy metal as well.

In a move that some insiders speculate was made in order to make the high profile record imprint more attractive to potential buyers, Sanctuary Group has cut 175 jobs, or 25% of it's total workforce.

Reportedly, talks of a potential asset sale, buyout or investment by several industry giants including EMI and Warner Music Group fell through completely in August.

Officially, the label blames the cuts on negative profit warnings, with the label looking toward posting a loss for the fiscal year.
