Pārtha Sārathi!
Here He comes
As a Charioteer
To steer the way
From mana saṃcāla
Kṛṣṇa! I am your Pārthā
I surrender thee
O Guru of the Universe
Kṛṣṇa’
I am your Pārthā
Ma'am tvām prappannam
Teach me the rāja guḥya, para vidyā
Here He comes
Pārthā Sārathi
“Pārthā, there are
Two paths to mokṣa
Jnāna and Karma Yoga
Jnāna for one who contemplates
Karma for one who always acts
But doesn’t mean
That sannyāsa grants you mokṣa
It doesn’t mean
That mere action grants you mokṣa
The transition of a karmi
To a karma yogi
Is a key transformation to the way we conceive
To restraint senses
To master the mind
To perform swadharma
Is the start to karma yoga
The work must be done
Not the end in the mind,
But in the spirit of
Īśvara arpaṇa
With this sacrifice
Pleasing the devatas
Resulting in bundles of
Pleasing opportunities
Those who fail to abide
Go by their senses delight
They lack the will to fight
Ends in the tunnel without light
Kṛṣṇa
I am your Pārthā
I surrender thee
O Guru of the Universe
Kṛṣṇa’
I am your Pārthā
Ma'am tvām prappannam
Teach me the rāja guhya, para vidya
Here He comes
Pārthā Sārathi
Here He comes
As a Charioteer
To steer the way
From mana saṃcāla
We, Humans
Fixated
Fruits of our
Labour
Only our
Desired
Outcomes are
Expected
When the outcomes
Aren’t as expected
We’re left with
Pure dejection
We tend to
Claim the ownership
Of all fruits
Of our own actions
The archer’s
Choice is to
When and how
To free the arrow
The target
Depends on
Conditions
Not in his control
When we finally
Fully understand
The focus shifts on to
The action
Result removed,
Put forth action
Īśvara arpaṇa
He perseveres
On fulfilling
His swadharma
As a sacrifice
He’s not obsessed
With the fruits of his actions
What he receives
He accepts them
With humility,
With gratitude,
As the īśvara prasādam
Īśvara arpaṇa prasāda buddhi
Shaping the seeker with all the siddhi
With vivekā, vairāgya, śakta sampatiḥ
Deepening the desire of mukti
Kṛṣṇa
Pārthā Sārathi
O Teacher of the Universe
The nourisher of the Upaniṣad Sāra
Kṛṣṇa
Pārthā Sārathi
The one who made mighty arjuna
To lift his fallen Gāṇḍīva
