Summer 91 Lyrics

There she was, just mmindiding her business

Mowing The Lawn, rolling the hay

She was wearing nothing but trouble

Her hair so white her thongs so black

There I was, Just a soldier in a foxhole

Staying alive with an AK47

I was there to protect her from the war

From whom I don´t know but she wasn´t gonna fall

          No!She wasn´t gonna fall!

She came close watching my gun

Maybe afraid but somehow assured

That i will be there in case it goes bad

After all she was alone in a war

I promised her I would stay with her forever

She said that she was all to young

I promised I would wait for her

But I was sent away and never came back

         No!I never came back!

It was summer 91, she was only 17

20 years later I met another girl

Nothing but trouble and looking like her

She was 19, her father was unknown

A hero a soldier her mother used to know

She moved to America after she was born

Daddy ain´t coming, lost in the war

She was 21 when the bombers hit the town

And the soldier in the foxhole never came home.

         No!I never came back!

It was summer 91, she was only 17
