A feverish woe Broke over a deafening silence No longer whole Mothers weep for loss of their youth A ray of hope Towering, a door unguarded Suddenly groans Heat radiates as the chamber is exposed What lies within this cavity could be our shield Blinded as the iron swung open Hopeful was the mass Feeble and pallid creatures Took but a moment to encircle us Torchlight shattered what was infinite darkness And the hypothermic hourglass Ravens that resemble demons Poured from within the cavern Diving towards the crowd as we all hit the ground Some tried to run, but by cold they were bound With their massive talons they carried us away Now confirmed, another fear, we are now their prey Weaving between stalactites No one prepared to lose their life Broken spirits at a loss As a city looms beneath us Soaring towards the unknown I am stricken by the feeling that there is no return from here Hopeful, or hopeless Still here we remain Drowning, or thriving Here we are the same Dropped, falling Nothing to guide our way down Once asleep, now realized, in a stasis Held in a viscous fluid, limbs are paralyzed All but our eyes are now immobilized Appearing before a vision of the mortal senses Drained from the husk of a man once pure and young Seeking more time to rule Trapped within the cursed bones, his essence lingers Now but a husk of a man once fair and wise Valor defined Fading, the vision diffuses to nothing but dark liquid Now suddenly aware of the need to breathe Pressure relieved as we begin to surface We rise, born anew, healed of the most vicious wounds Confusion conjures new conclusions Were we saved? Ever instilled with a new sense of purpose Hope is replaced... Peering into us the pale ones draw closer Parting as a humanoid corvus stepped forth to address us Wires ran under a plated concealer- he must be our healer... "Here we dwell, from torment escaped Like you, we fled now generations unseen We provide sanctuary for all kinds Place your prejudice aside Your vision was for a cause: To show you he too once had laws That bound him to cleanse the throne A father reduced to cursed bones" (For lost souls) Woeful (Rescued from the cold) Thankful (They weren't sold) For here we remain (What we know) Human (What we thought we feared) Mutant (Thoughts now clear) Here we are the same (Breath by breath) Living (Ever till our death) Fighting (Against a) Tyrant who is the same
