The Night Devours Lyrics

A vicious curse has been cast on me

By a doppelganger with a parasitic smile

A shifting visage shrouded in darkness

How could so many faces seem so vile?

Though at first captivated by beneficence

Vainglory and majesty at once did conspire

With demagoguery and mockery,

Once reviled with suspicion

Now I wept onto hands stained crimson

As chastened love died there in my arms

Whence came the onset of this aporia?

The thinning and ailing of time?

Am I haunted by memories or merely delusions of a fanatic mind?

An epoch spent drowning in despair, enraptured by self righteous sin?

Or predeteriminstic heretic hypocrisy, hellbound corruption from within?

God alone knew how I felt

Consumed as I was by jealousy and ignorance

Covetous of earned rest

As distorted visions molest me I assume the burden of The Beast

I've submitted and debased myself,

As a disciple of this Cloven Priest.

Another day bleeds past me

I can't count the hours

Remnants of dying light fade

As The Night Devours

His visage wreathed in darkness

How could so many faces seem so vile?

His masque once of pure arcane beauty transforming before my sight

His warm smile inverting once beguiling now distorting into perverse caricature of life

As diabolical grin tears through the remnants of skin, I fled in horror, terrified

Yet every time I close my eyes

I see these faces, taunting

Haunting me until I die

Another day bleeds past me

I can't count the hours

Remnants of dying light fade

As The Night Devours
