The Perversion of Piety Lyrics

Wielding the authority of the divine

Dragging innocents to the pyres

A sacrificial spectacle to uphold their dogmas

Power masked as righteousness

The desperate pleas for mercy

crushed beneath the merciless boots

of the holy enforcers

Beneath the grand cathedrals

Inflicting unspeakable tortures

upon the accused, eternal suffering

The perversion of piety

Pious clergy, draped in their rich vestments, preaching compassion and devotion while in secrecy, indulging the most depraved of desires.

In the shadows, I sought solace, escaping the deafening noise of divine hypocrisy, embracing the darkness.

I shed the chains of mental subjugation

In darkness, I embrace freedom.

Darkness may fall short day after day until light is no more and darkness prevails in eternity.

Forever walking the realms untethered, seeking to uncover the truth, and embracing the liberating essence of the night

In line they stand, the sheep in wait,

a dominance professed, servitude caressed,

a pawn in the game of the divine, in this sanctified shrine.

Like cattle, they march, obedience rules,

communion wafer, a sign of submission,

Swallowed whole in blind tradition

They kneel, they bow, their wills entwined,

Enslaved by faith, the devoutly blind.

Beneath the cloth, the priest's aroused,

Their minds, his altar, for control he seeks,

communion lines, dominance peaks.
