The Long Forgotten Dead Lyrics

Night has fallen and the lurking beasts are

stirring amongst the resting bones

I wonder if another met an awful fate that

foreshadows my own

I try to listen to the winds in case there's

something that is watching me

But they are staying well away, can they sense

what is about to be?

The air is thin, and I am perched

upon a rock on a mountain high

The chains are always warm despite the fact the

night grows cold and dry

I see the stars and find some solace knowing

they are so far away

They are brethren to the one who will return

to ring in the new day

Starlight whimpers in the sky

Shadows crawl along the ground

String winds begin to blow and howl

Darkness takes a hold of me

As I close my eyes,

I feel the winds burning my skin

The dust gathers and covers my blistered feet

As it blows it slowly reveals what is beneath

Others who have tempted fate, who have sinned

The chains are still bound to their bones

So on this barren and exposed jagged rock

The grim and forgotten past

is lying all around me

The dark truth is I'm not the first

and likely not the last

The gods have punished countless times

before me

But these bones are from a time so old

Lying decayed in the runs of their own downfall

Riding on the wind, the voices from the past

Speaking from the bones

of the long forgotten dead

I hear them calling and welcoming of my doom

I join the fallen, and add my soul to theirs

The starlight fades, all feeling wanes

The moment I've feared, is now here
