Lost and Forgotten Lyrics

Deeply planted in the minds

The ancient roots entangle the soul

Its rugged skin is thick

Its fleshy core burns

And as they twist they suffocate the weeds

Planted deeper in the heart

But still no leaves grow

The weeds are poison to this tree

A deadly nightshade from afar

It suckles at the roots

Draining its very lifeblood

A monument succumbing to death

Dissolving into time

And fading from the eyes

Of the ones who hold it dear

Death is all it knows

This toxic foreign weed

The disillusioned minds

Grows weak with every thought

The weed extracts the dreams

And numbs the inner eye

And so the tree is lost, forgotten and myth

But others are angered

At the folly of man

As sure as their power rises

They quickly fall on their knees

And beg to their weed

To poison the world some more

The tree decays in time

Its lifeless as a stone

Its roots remain entangled

But completely overgrown

The eyes don’t ever see

For they never really look

And so the tree is lost, forgotten and myth

But others are angered

At the folly of man

As sure as their power rises

They quickly fall on their knees

And beg to their weed

To poison the world some more
