Massacre at High Noon Lyrics

Album: M

When we rose the next day

The sun shone clearer than ever

For the mist had left the mountain

The priests came quickly to the sick house

Their eyes were wide with fear

"What has the stranger done?

The mist is gone

Has the spirit of the mountain left us?

What shall we do?"

For over two hundred years

We've been protected by the mountain's mist

Now that the Eastern Empire has grown

Our end is near, of that we're sure

"Where is the stranger?

Bring him to us

Don't you understand?

He cast out the spirit of the mountain so the empire can destroy us

He is our enemy!"

Those in the sick house that the stranger healed shook their heads

"He is not with us. He has left this village

Knowing that you would try to take his life

Listen, he has done no wrong

He has brought hope of eternal life to the suffering!"

Then something within the priests' eyes changed

Like their vision become enshrouded with the beasts' mist

"You are traitors

The stranger has cast a spell on you to betray us to the empire!"

And as they spoke, smoke filled their mouths

And they ran, rambling and screaming to the whole town

To seize the sick and to kill them

The village converged, each man, woman, and child

Eyes clouded with mist and breathing smoke

They led out the sick, one by one

To the center of the town

Where a man with a large sword

Cut off their heads until the streets ran with blood

And those who claimed the name of Christ spoke no more
