Of scavengers and Carrion
Our species will carry on
With life comes death
We climb mountains of bone
After the lions have had their fill
Scavengers from near and far surround the kill
The shriek of the vulture, the cry of the heron
Hyenas rip apart the flesh of a Carrion
A battle of the lowlies surely ensues
On a field of bloody tissue and ripped sinews
Birds vomit guts into the mouths of their young
The blood of a herbivore on a carnivore's tongue
And the Scavengers are all scavenged as well
Until nothing is left but bones and tail
A ribcage that once contained the heart
Of a peaceful creature torn apart
Sharks swallow flesh of a rotted carcass
Of a blue whale that succumbed to the darkness
Shreds of meat fertilize the sea
To feed plankton and anemones
Of scavengers and Carrion
Our species will carry on
With life comes death
We climb mountains of bone
Guts strewn all across the ground
It's a flesh mess that the scavengers found
The biggest beast, a carcass hoarder
Get in line, know the pecking order
Wolves surround the fallen body of a bovine
A possum in the road feasting on his own kind
Listen to the teeth sinking in, the bone grind
Cracked skull, stomach full from a blown mind
Bacteria on the teeth of Komodos
Creatures on the creep, better eat your No-Doze
Bodies never last on the jungle floor
Expired tiger's kill, time to feed some more
People stabbing the backs of their brothers
Opened up and consumed, smothered and covered
Human beings are scavengers too
Savage and ravaged, throw them all in a zoo
Of scavengers and Carrion
Our species will carry on
With life comes death
We climb mountains of bone
