Cast out to the desert. Supplies have run out. Stranded with no hope.

Days with no water. No food to speak of. The next hours vital.

Scorpion’s poison. Snake’s wretched venom. Coyotes gnash teeth.

Oasis beyond reach. I am so thirsty. Death will you take me?

Lost in the dunes. Vultures above me. I am not long for this.

Sky and sand burn me. I can no longer see. Is this final rest?

Creatures surround me. I hear them close on me. Life begets death.

Flat on my back. Curse all around me. Let them devour me.

Beasts of the sands find my remains.

They feast on my form, consume all I am.
