I lounge in the beauty of night

Gusts of the coastal winds

No sign of annoyance in sight

Finally at peace within

The trees that surround me sway

As I lay and rest here

Approaching the end of day

The darkness of night is here

Viewing the swamp

Filled with ocean water

Which turns from bright orange to black

As I lay in slumber

Feeling the breeze

The demon of the night is back

The crabs run through sand

Ibises fly above

With my surroundings I'm in love

I feel I've found peace

A peace that will die

God views my demise from above

I drift into sleep

Laying vulnerable

Death slowly creeps

Exacting his will

As night rushed forth

No danger in sight

Though nothing good happens

After midnight

He creeps in the dark

As I lay in slumber

On two stocky legs

Forward he lumbers

Intent to kill

I'm safe nowhere

It will all end

I will be spared

Where I lay

I lay til the end

For the sun

Rises again

A bloody mess

Where my face is

My body lays

In multiple places

Dead
