Here, my instincts come into conflict
with every thing I know
Here, in a world built on law
Laws of order and submission
All that we have is learned
Here my mind finds I have no instruction
They don't feel the need to find
what it is that gives them direction
the natural world turns a blind eye
developed beyond recognition
What consolation is Knowledge
when heads are being pressed down
on unforgiving concrete streets
we have no instruction
when the TV goes to sleep
we awaken to find our lives have no structure
All we have is learned
I am encumbered by a lingering sense
of what we left behind
I know we can not accept
a show of reaction
meaning seems an empty appeasement
in my heart
I forsake my chemistry
for the prospect of serenity
