Before eternal sleep
The giant rose his hands and tore
a serpent from the clouds
He put her to the ground where she slithered free
Where she touched the earth
The soil would give birth
the river queen, she grew
Pure and swift she roamed
Mighty and untamed the snake
Kissed the sea
First we named her goddess
We thanked her for the life she gave
But soon we would enslave her
Soon we would betray
Restraining her with dams
Feeding her our bile
We are raised on the illusion
That nature will submit
We contain her fiercest forces
No threat we can’t defeat
Usurpers claiming the throne
But it’s not ours to take
For a moment she kept silent
Any moment she will wake
Grey and fat she roams
Lazy and restrained the snake
Infects the sea
Still we’ll name her goddess
We’ll plead her for the lives she’ll take
Once more we will remember
Once more we will know
For a time she conformed
Now she’s turning vile
Pray for forgiveness
Praise the Serpent Queen
The river dragon has come
Souls wash away
