In the deep freeze of the antarctic lands
Cold and mighty the mountains stand
Natures highest giants they seem to be
We cannot believe what we see
Here we are – hungry for secrets
Travelling – in the ice and snow
What will we – find in the mountains
Full of faith – full of hope
(Prof.) lake found creatures half animal, half plant
But he goes too far, and now he's crying for help
When we reached their camp the horrors already begun
Where did these monsters come from
Here we are – at the mountains of madness
What we found – is the disturbing past
What was this – which unholy power
Curiosity – is what dies last
And as we fly over the plateau of leng
We almost hit the point of going insane
A million year old city, is what we see as the first
The most hidden place on planet earth
As we walk – through the huge buildings
Sled tracks – in the fresh snow
Found Gedney dead – but what did this
So we go – in the caves below
Here we are – at the mountains of madness
What we found – is the disturbing past
What lives here – which unholy power
Curiosity – is what dies last
"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear,
And the oldest and strongest kind of fear,
Is fear of the unknown." (H. H. Lovecraft)
