There once was a rich man
Who indulged in luxury
Feasted on meat and wine
Dressed in robes of vain design
Outside lay a sick man
Lazarus, who lived in poverty
Begging for scraps, but ignored
As the dogs gnawed on his sores
Living every day in agony
Never shown generosity
Scorned by Jew and gentile alike
Poor Lazarus, deprived of mercy
The time would come for both to die
And face their judgement
Lazarus woke up in paradise
Took a seat at Abraham's banquet
Meanwhile, the rich man awoke
And in fright exclaimed
For he was surrounded by smoke
And flame
He called out to Abraham
And Lazarus in fright
Begging them to warn his brothers
Through a miraculous sight
But Abraham denied his request
And into torment the rich man regressed
