...across a blackened sea we cut in flight, towards the Gate of Hercules...
Ahead was night, such onyx waters mirror flat and non reflecting
Aye... we sailed blindly and the world's end followed behind
Roaring, splitting, breaking, devouring hope, extinguishing light
For oh... what treasure we stole: rainbow gems, prism stone, stardust, diamond white
That deed cries equal sacrifice, nothing less than the naked life
Sucked down the pits everlasting night where once bold heroes solemnly slept,
Egyptian, Roman, Carthaginian, Greek... away with the riches, off and overboard!
The bait of greed... for this death is not the fate we seek! As I look up in agony
No sky I see... but high in the ropes with a ghostly glow fire blooms
That's when I'll know... another knot, another length, the Gate has been passed...
