The blazing day was over And among the sands we walked Through the desert night We saw a city's walls Through the withered gates We soon found our way To find an empty ruin Silent as the grave Soon enough we came across Piles of gold and jewels Shining in the moonlight What I saw could not be true Who would leave this here In a city cold and dead Desperate for an answer We looked to the palace ahead Among the heaps of gold Bodies lay strewn Skeletal remains The city was a tomb Famine stricken land And water running dry No matter how wealthy The city was built to die What was once a home of life Had become a place of death Rich beyond our dreams Yet fleeting 'til last breath The queen upon her throne Almost looked alive Yet wealth could not retain her It seems greed is how she died
