We march through snow-covered fields
Replacing the wounded that met their defeat
In shortage of ammo and winter clothes
Sent to defend the crossroad at Bastogne
Meeting our destiny, writing the history
Krauts and Panzers are riding on!
(Chorus)
The whistle of the steel
Blasting shells
Our comrades are falling
Frostbitten prayers
And fire at the Ardennes
“The 16th of December of 1944, the 3rd Reich launched a surprise attack against the Allied forces set at the western-borders of Germany.
They moved forward across Belgium and Luxembourg, trusting on speed and looting to strike fast and reach the port of Antwerp,
cutting off supplies to both the British and the American Army.
The 101st Airborne Division of the US Army was sent to defend a major crossroad at the small village of Bastogne,
which would be completely circled by german troops for several weeks under freezing winter weather.
When General McAuliffe of the 101st was asked to surrender to avoid the annihilation of his men,
his answer was: NUTS!”
Hiding in foxholes, rattling teeth
And painfully suffering from trench feet
We see a flare, bright over the snow
A signal of mortars starting to blow!
(Chorus)
The artillery
Fires again
Desperate callings
Frostbitten prayers
And fire at the Ardennes
