Until the Grunge King came

And shut my heavy metal doors

I made my sacrifice to Chrysalis and Mercury

But all the gods and muses turned their backs on me

Dedicated warriors, we fought the valiant fight

A gifted band of men-at-arms

We plied our craft each night

We opened up our lives to effort, sweat, and song

What evil trickery occurred to make it go so wrong?

How did it go wrong?

The world was suddenly done with us

No reason left to be true

And I lost my faith, my soul, my hope, my trust

I left my brothers and I ventured off alone

Living like a vagabond with nothing like a home

I was a mercenary in the service of a lie

They soldiered on without me

I was too far gone to try

There comes a message across the sea

A throng of faithful still true

And the raven says they might have need of me

It's a terrible thing, when the thing that you love

Is becoming a thing of the past

But the wise men all say:

"Everything that was gone will be coming around,

one more time, again at last!"

From as far away as Europe, we have heard the cry

It seems their love for what we did then

It never really died

I see my brothers coming

Axes gleaming, tuned and true

Once more, I hear the drum beat

And I find my way to you
