The fire’s burning out

I sit in silence, listen close now

Spark of shade

The pitch of night betrayed

Illuminating eyes are stalking me

Horrified, lonely in the night

Or so I thought I was

Creature moves, showing me his face

Death in place

Head of bone and eyes of white

Make no sound by firelight

Skeleton

Exposed under the skin

Looming over flame flickering

Froze in fear

Observe, the beast draws near

Features lost in shadow, unclear

Pierce through the smoke

Looking down at me

Silence my final hope

Dripping blood out of what remains

Only pain
