Sitting in the grime of the trench I didn't realize Just how far the rot went Acres and acres of black rotted trees hang Branches over the sand A maze of stenches and smells mark the graveyard Of those travelled and failed Tar pits and unspeakable creatures here Kill quickly and dismember the corpse Through the forest of rot, now, I travel To escape from that horrible town But I fear, I doubt and I question Still I travel to a holier ground In the dark of the night I'm protected From evil forces, hunting for blood In the light of the day I evade them, but A single misstep and I'll drown in the mud Human remains mark my path and remind me Of the fate I'll meet if I don't succeed The world behind me is as deadly as The creatures that hide in these trees Through the forest of rot, now, I travel To escape from that horrible town Without fear, without doubt, without question On a journey to a holier ground Startled awake by the cries of the creatures Getting closer as the moon shines bright Frozen with fear, then running faster than ever Hideous laughter marks the start of the hunt Dodging roots and branches as the trees try to stab me The whole forest now thirsts for my blood Weak from exhaustion, battered and bruised On the verge of collapse I accept my doom But I notice a field in the distance An escape from a nightmarish tomb
