With the sun to his back
He treads north out of town
With a purpose in mind
Called to walk the lonely path
And he wandered
Far away from his home
Knowing that he couldn’t fail
As his feet obeyed the stars
And his heart yearned for his bed
He could feel the pulse of
the engines of the world
Stirring back to life
He pushed through the reeds
And found a stone that spoke
In a tongue that he had known
In a life he’d long forgot
It told him of a time
When stone could move as us
And how it had arrived at that language by
watching as the people worked
wonders with their invocations
Then they turned them on the stone folk
The wizard told the stone
That this language had been lost
And it’s power sure to fade
If they wait long enough
