Bone Church Blues Lyrics

woke up from a nightmare

dark clouds in my head

ain’t got me no woman

she ran off with my friend

ain’t got no money

ain’t got no hope

I would of tied me a noose this morning

but I used up all my rope

tried to drown in the neighbors well

but the well was awful dry

got luck all god damn bad

I can’t even die

took a trip to the other side

there ain’t no comin’ back

I built my house out of brimstone

now I got the blues so dark their black

heard the bell from the crooked steeple

cut through the night

felt a cold touch on my shoulder

and a chill down my spine

then a whisper softly in my ear

“Son you’re gonna be just fine”

“You’re always welcome at the church of bone where you can live the life divine”

I said “Father if I pray to God can he take away my pain?”

He said “Yes we praise the Almighty, but he goes by another name”

“Well I don’t care what you call him, as long as he sets me free”

He said “Good let’s get to praying. And shortly you will see.”

He said “Son, you know it’s custom to offer up some blood. Show him that you truly need him; A token of your love. Let him see you’ll follow blindly. Obey all his commands. Consecrate then magic circle; hold thy neighbors hand”

Oh Lord

He Lied

Have mercy on me

Be kind

Oh Lord

I know

The Devil has his hands on my soul
