In the very moment I awoke,
there was no need to draw a breath.
Yet, the cold within my bones was real,
as the light on the lonely mountain.
I force myself to stand up now,
dragging my steps through deep snow.
The freezing wind cuts like a knife,
while wandering souls whisper my name.
Dry branches snap beneath my weight,
forgotten villages fade in the dark.
That distant summit is my home,
and I will walk into its grasp.
I climb the walls of frozen stone,
staring at my reflection in ice.
Left with no strength, left with no heart,
will I ever reach the top?
The campfire stands before my eyes,
burning in deep lapis lazuli.
I reach my hand to feel the warmth,
but it is colder than the storm.
Is it really you by the fire?
I had forgotten your gélid gaze,
I had forgotten your frozen touch,
under the shadow of the night.
The blue flame suffocates and dies,
leaving the moon to guide my steps.
At the cliff's edge, infinity wakes:
a flooded forest beneath the stars.
What if there is more than this freeze?
Forests of ash, woodlands of green.
The ice is breaking inside my chest,
boundaries fade under the sky.
Standing before this open world,
the endless winter starts to dissolve.
We never had the chance to speak,
to care, to say goodbye.
Eons of walking through the deep,
the ancient snow begins to melt.
The heavy water turns to mist,
and vegetation reclaims the soil.
Is this landscape truly eternal,
just like this new waking life?
I have begun to move forward,
always in search of the light.
