In the midnight sky of Manitoban fields just outside the light of a prairie city emerges the first release from a rising force. Soon the locals would see their favourite band, Sonic Bloom, ascend from the ashes anew as Tin Foil Phoenix.

Only a few short years ago, the Phoenix could be spotted blasting sound waves through the Canadian metropolis of Winnipeg. The western Canadian landscape served as a fitting metaphor for their sound: powerful and expansive. The stylistic influences of members Michael Allen Zirk, aka Maz (vocals), Stephen Kray (percussion), Paul Robinson (bass), Fish (guitar), and Phil Cholosky (guitar) stretch from hip-hop to progressive rock to top 40 and a spoken word element so insistent it causes listeners to ponder if they're being spoken to or merely talking to themselves.

Living in the Shadow of the Bat, titled around the concept of the alter ego, offers listeners fantastic tales of science fiction and pulp culture. The album captures the infinite mystery of outer and inner space with tracks like The Mothership and We'll Get to Venus, the bizarre origins of a health food shake (Neopolitan) and the seductive influence of celebrity (James Spader).

Tin Foil Phoenix intends to orbit the earth and claim the ears of all that will listen.
