Gorguts Bio
Genres
Technical/Avant-Garde Death Metal
When they burst on the scene in the early nineties, Gorguts quickly garnered
massive respect and popularity due largely in part to their excellent
musicianship and dedication to the death metal underground. Unfortunately,
even though the band had put out two well received full-length albums,
Gorguts still fell victim to Roadrunner Records "house cleaning" in 1996.
Undaunted by this temporary setback, founding member Luc LeMay began writing
material for Gorguts' groundbreaking release on Olympic Recordings: their
third full length album "Obscura". The reaction to "Obscura" was one of utter
fascination. Nothing like what was on that recording had ever been attempted
in the realms of metal
Touring followed: the few nonbelievers left were
quickly converted after seeing Gorguts reproduce the sounds made on
"Obscura". Now the wait is finally over. After two years the public will
again be amazed at the complexity of a full length Gorguts symphony: "From
Wisdom To Hate". This time around the songs are just as intense in feel, but
more memorable in structure. Once again Gorguts will display their abilities
in person when touring begins in 2001. "From Wisdom To Hate" is Gorguts'
second release on Olympic Recordings and promises to show that there were
many doors not opened on "Obscura". "From Wisdom To Hate" is the next journey
of innovation and imagination, where a new level of extreme is attained.
