Gorephilia is a Finnish Death Metal band influenced by American legends of the genre like Morbid Angel, Incantation and Sadistic Intent.

Originally formed in the late summer of 2006 as "Goretexx". After releasing a rehearsal tape and a demo CDr "Rotting" in 2007 Roope took over Lauri's place on drums and the current name was taken to use. Some gigs followed and one of them resulted in a live demo "Ritual Exhumation" that put together all of the Goretexx songs. An attempt was made to capture the three new songs in studio, but due to lack of a rehearsal place a satisfying result wasn't achieved.

After almost a year of stasis we found ourselves a place to rehearse and brought in Valtteri as a second guitarist introduced along with a style change from "Obituaryish Swedeath" to a more extreme USA-style death metal approach and the abandoning of the old Goretexx-era material. Unfortunately in early 2009 3 of 5 members begun their compulsory military service which slowed down the pace of training new material. Valtteri was then replaced with Jussi. The first actual Gorephilia release "In Death" demo came out of the press in the summer of 2010 containing three new tracks.

After throwing some gigs supporting bands like GRAVE and TORTURE KILLER the work began on recording the new songs heard on those gigs to come out in form of an EP. After the initial recording of the EP in November of 2010 it was decided Roope would leave the band due to not having enough time for the band. After only a month of searching for a new drummer, Tommi was found to fill the place. Now with a full crew, Gorephilia is waiting to strike with new gigs and releases in the near future!
