Season of Evil is a punk-influenced death metal band from Hellinois. SoE was conceived in late 1999 by Steve (vocals) and Mark (guitar). Soon after, a drummer (whose name does not matter) joined with the two. While looking for a bass player, Steve met Brendan at a Goatwhore concert in 2000.
Brendan brought a number of riffs to SoE from his previous projects, and was soon welcomed into the band as a versatile musician. Not long after the arrival of Brendan, Mark left the band to concentrate on school, but would return later. About the same time the drummer was kicked out.
Since then, a number of drummers have gone through the ranks of SoE. Though none have been dedicated nor talented enough to remain.
Because of this, Brendan was forced to play all instruments on their self-titled demo, including utilizing a drum machine for much of it. All music was written by Brendan between 1997 and 2001. Lyrics were shared by both Steve and Brendan.
Vocally and lyrically, Steve is influenced by Six Feet Under/Cannibal Corpse and zombie movies. Musically and lyrically, Brendan is influenced by the Misfits, early speed metal, and the classic Universal Studios horror flicks.
In early 2002, Mark rejoined the band, bringing with him music he had been working on. A mutual friend, Daemon Damian, temporarily joined in 2002, to fill the bass player position, but was soon replaced by Mike, a permanent member.
With two guitarists, both rapidly generating killer riffs, Season of Evil's next demo will be completed much more quickly than their current one.
